MaleAbout Timothy Lee Dersch
Timothy Dersch, MD, is a general surgeon with Prisma Health who practices acute care and general surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital, while also providing general surgery services at the Greer campus. Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Dr. Dersch completed his undergraduate education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He went on to earn his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, followed by surgical residency training in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Dr. Dersch provides comprehensive general surgical care, treating a wide range of conditions affecting the digestive system, including gallbladder disease, appendicitis, bowel obstructions, diverticulitis, colon cancer, and peptic ulcer disease. He also manages skin lesions and minor skin cancers. In his role in acute care and trauma surgery, he cares for patients with urgent and emergent conditions, often treating those who require immediate attention due to accidents or serious illness.
With a strong interest in global health, Dr. Dersch has participated in multiple international medical mission trips, including service in Kenya and Honduras, and spent time in Africa during medical school. These experiences reinforced his dedication to general surgery as a specialty that can make a meaningful impact across diverse care settings.
Dr. Dersch is committed to patient education and preventive health. He values spending time with patients to discuss not only surgical care, but also broader health topics such as smoking cessation, cancer screenings, and overall wellness. He is passionate about encouraging patients to pursue healthy, fulfilling lives.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Dersch enjoys traveling with his wife, both internationally and throughout the United States. He also takes pride in maintaining his yard and spending time outdoors.

I had a visit with Dr. DERSCH ABOUT A COLONOSCOPY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST A CONSULTATION AND THAT I NEEDED TO COME BACK. I HAD BEEN WORRYING ABOUT THE PROCEDURE AND FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER PREPARED FOR IT. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE DAY OFF TO GO WITH ME. GETTING TIME OFF IS VERY HARD FOR HIM TO DO.

Trust me to acquire a ride to my procedure just as i trust you to perform it! There should NEVER be two arrival times for surgery! This reeks of a lack of coordination. Ive worked the o.r. ; it has to be this way; is disengenuine at best. It also confuses and places undue strain, on the patient, the eve of a procedure they may already be nervous about.
