Julie Ann Shain, FNP

Julie Shane, FNP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner with the Orthopedic Trauma team at Prisma Health, where she cares for patients with musculoskeletal injuries from the moment of injury through surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation. In orthopedic trauma, no two patients or injuries are alike, and Julie values the complexity and variety this specialty brings. She collaborates closely with orthopedic surgeons to tailor care plans that support each patient’s unique needs and circumstances, an aspect of the work that continues to motivate and inspire her.

At her core, Julie is a nurse first. Her passion for patient care is what drives her each day. She finds great fulfillment in educating patients, supporting them through every stage of healing, and celebrating their progress—whether at a six week follow up or a twelve week visit. Orthopedic trauma offers patients the opportunity to see meaningful improvement in a relatively short period of time, and Julie loves being part of their journey as they regain mobility, strength, and confidence.

Education is central to Julie’s approach to inspiring health. She believes patients should understand the “why” behind their treatment plans and encourages them to recognize that meaningful progress often comes from small, consistent steps not dramatic changes. When patients struggle to see their own improvements, Julie makes sure to highlight the strides they’ve made and how those steps contribute to their overall wellbeing.

Outside of work, Julie is a proud new mom. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their 14 month old son and she is an avid sports fan.
