Joseph Scott Hunter Bittle, MD

Scott Bittle, MD, an interventional radiologist with Prisma Health, specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided therapies across a broad spectrum of vascular, oncologic and hepatobiliary disease. He earned both his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Mississippi. Following medical school, he completed a general surgery internship at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. He then pursued radiology residency training at Baylor University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Bittle is dual board certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology. His clinical expertise is centered on the management of complex venous thromboembolic disease, including pulmonary embolism thrombectomy and deep vein thrombosis interventions, as well as chronic venous insufficiency treatments.

He has a strong clinical focus in portal hypertension–related interventions, including transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement and revision, retrograde transvenous obliteration, ascites management procedures, and portal vein thrombectomy, reconstruction, and recanalization. He also participates in a multidisciplinary approach to liver-directed therapies for hepatic malignancies, working closely with hepatology, oncology and surgical teams.

In addition, Dr. Bittle is actively involved in multidisciplinary trauma care, providing emergent and elective endovascular interventions. His practice encompasses a wide range of vascular and pelvic interventions, including treatment of vascular malformations, benign prostatic hyperplasia and abnormal uterine bleeding related to fibroids and adenomyosis.
