Jonathan R. Hinshelwood, MD, is a diagnostic and interventional radiologist at Prisma Health–Upstate, where he serves as Medical Director of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and Nursing. He is also a clinical assistant professor of radiology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.
Dr. Hinshelwood specializes in interventional oncology and advanced minimally invasive image‑guided therapies. His clinical expertise includes vascular malformation treatment, geniculate artery embolization, uterine artery embolization and endovascular thrombectomy. His approach emphasizes precision, safety and individualized care, offering patients effective alternatives to traditional surgical treatments with reduced recovery time.
Dr. Hinshelwood earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, then completed residency training in diagnostic radiology, following a preliminary year in internal medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also completed fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at UAB.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hinshelwood is actively involved in research, education, and multidisciplinary cancer care, and has received multiple teaching and clinical excellence awards.
