Jesse David Woodard, MD

Jesse Woodard, MD, is a diagnostic radiologist with specialized expertise in pediatric imaging at Prisma Health. He provides accurate, timely interpretations that give families confidence during critical moments.

Dr. Woodard completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) before serving in the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Commander (O-5). During his military career, he taught at the Navy’s residency program in Portsmouth and later served as a staff physician at U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka in Japan. He also served as department head aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort, deploying in support of disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. His time in the Navy shaped his commitment to teamwork, adaptability and leadership in high-stakes clinical environments.

Following his military service, Dr. Woodard joined Prisma Health, where he has continued to build a practice focused on high-quality, patient-centered imaging. He serves in several leadership roles within the department, with a focus on improving workflow, communication and operational efficiency to better support both patients and clinical teams.

A native of Pickens County, Dr. Woodard attended Clemson University and values the opportunity to serve the community he calls home. His clinical interests include pediatric radiology, emergency imaging and cross-sectional imaging with an emphasis on clear communication and collaborative care.

While pediatric imaging is a routine part of his daily work, Dr. Woodard recognizes that for families, these moments are often anything but routine. He approaches each case with empathy and clarity, understanding that an imaging study may represent a time of uncertainty or fear for parents. His goal is to support families and care teams by providing clear, reliable information that helps guide decisions and empowers parents to feel informed and engaged in their child’s care.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, as well as keeping up with their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which means a decidedly relaxed pace of life.
