James Cook, MD, received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed his residency at Michigan State University/Sparrow and joined the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2012.
Dr. Cook serves as the medical director of the residency practice outpatient clinic, and assists with patient care in the labor and delivery unit at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. He serves as the medical student clerkship director. Prior to joining the USCSOM faculty, Cook provided gynecologic care at the Student Health Center at the University of South Carolina. He previously served as a medical officer and director of medical education at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Next time I get the shot, please make sure you get someone who doesn't just JAB the needle so hard into my arm. Because I really felt that in my muscle and it was a hard poke. It made me jump a little. So please be gentle next time.

My blood pressures have been pretty high postpartum, but it didn't seem like any meaningful changes were made to my medications. I left feeling fearful that my condition wont improve based on my visit.
