Gautam Bhatia, MD, grew up in a small town in Alabama and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a major in economics. Dr. Bhatia received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed his residency in general surgery at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina. He then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and joined Prisma Health Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2017.
Double board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Bhatia is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has special clinical interests in aortic surgery, valve surgery, arrhythmia surgery, transcatheter surgery and heart failure surgery, including VADs and ECMO. Dr. Bhatia recently started a dedicated Ascending Aortic Clinic to focus on the comprehensive treatment of aortic disease.

All went well just not as I had understood. Everything after my ct scan could have been taken care of on the phone or through my chart.

The only area of improvement would be to shorten the time between the moment the nurse leaves the exam room and when the physician comes in the exam room. There was a 35 minute delay for us. I truly enjoyed meeting Dr. Bhatia, but didn't understand the time lapse. When I entered the waiting room, there was no one there.

Directions to the offices once you enter the building. There are no signs or a directory, or even a desk with a person to ask for directions. We were in the elevator with someone like us just guessing where to go

Finding your way around the building is very difficult. You need to put more signage, especially in the parking garage. We had a lot of trouble finding our way.
