Ernest Andrew Waller, MD

Ernest Andrew Waller, MD, is a distinguished Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine physician based in Maryville, TN. Dr. Waller brings more than two decades of clinical experience, leadership and academic achievement to Prisma Health. Dr. Waller was born in Knoxville, TN and grew up in Seymour, TN. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Waller completed his medical degree at East Tennessee State University – Quillen College of Medicine. He pursued advanced training at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, completing residencies and fellowships in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Sleep Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Board-certified in four specialties, Dr. Waller has held leadership roles including Chair of the Department of Specialty Medicine at Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital. He is the co-founder and lead physician of the Blount Memorial Lung Cancer Screening and Incidental Lung Nodule Management Program. He performs advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, including robotic navigation bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound, to facilitate the early diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.
A recipient of numerous honors, including graduating summa cum laude and earning the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award, Dr. Waller is recognized for excellence in clinical performance, research and patient care. He has contributed to national conferences and published original research in peer-reviewed journals.
Outside of work, Dr. Waller is active in community service, and church leadership. He enjoys running, hiking and exploring national parks.
