Elizabeth Kimbrough Burpee, MD

Elizabeth K. Burpee, MD, received her medical degree from the University of New Mexico and completed her residency in internal medicine there. She was then a hospitalist at the Albuquerque VA Medical Center and also an assistant professor for the University of New Mexico.

In 2012, Dr. Burpee and her family moved to Asheville, North Carolina, to be closer to family. She became a hospitalist for Mission Health and completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine through the University of North Carolina/Mountain Area Health Education Center in 2017. She worked as a hospice and palliative care physician and educator for Four Seasons in Flat Rock, North Carolina, before joining Prisma Health. She is board certified in internal medicine and in hospice and palliative medicine.

Dr. Burpee is passionate about health equity and working for underserved and marginalized populations, and strives to provide the highest level of care for all of her patients and families. In her extensive travels, she has served as a volunteer in health care, literacy and other fields abroad. When not at work, she and her family love to hike, run and tend to their gardens.
