Charles J. Woody, OD

Dr. Charles J. Woody received his undergraduate degree in Physiology from Michigan State University, his MS in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University, his PhD in Physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and his OD from Nova Southeastern University. He did his postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Medical School. Part of his research time has been related to the ocular complications of diabetes mellitus. He moved to the Upstate in 1996 to serve as the Director of Research and Clinical Optometrist at the Diabetes Care Center for the Greenville Hospital System. Prior to that he was on the faculty of several universities including Northwestern University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Southeastern University. He has lectured internationally and has co-authored several publications on various aspects of endocrinology, specifically diabetes mellitus. He is currently on staff at the Prisma Eye Institute.
